What is maintenance? and why should it be maintained?

Maintenance includes daily backups, and update patches. When a problem occurs, no matter it is a human error (such as deleting an article, an account), or a technical problem, it is possible to restore it from a previous backup.

Computer programs are created by human, human errors and omissions are common. So, computer programs also contains errors and omissions. It may be incorrect handling in the operation (commonly known as bugs), or omissions in the data entry check (may be a security issue).

Therefore, in order to reduce the risk of cyber-crime, it is necessary to maintain the website regularly, the same as your desktop Windows, or your mobile phone iPhone/Android.

Without website maintenance, any downside?

Without website maintenance, the website will have greater risks over time. Websites are vulnerable to hacking, e.g. injecting malicious programs, stealing database information, distributing spam, distributing intimidating/blackmailing emails, injecting fake websites (such as fake banking websites), stealing login information, and injecting spam pages (negative SEO – link farm), blacklisted by the search engines (such as Google Safe Browsing) and so on. Seriously affect the company’s goodwill and operations.

What is the screenshot comparison before and after the web page update?

In order to ensure that the website update does not affect the appearance of the web page, each time the website is updated, we can take full page screenshots for customer-selected web pages. After the website is updated, we take another full page screenshots, and compare for any obvious difference.

What is a update staging platform?

The update staging platform is an another server, where we clone the existing website to that test server, and proceed the update. It enables users to log in the testing WordPress (in staging platform) and have the test. The benefits allow users to test important website interactive elements (such as the online shop purchase process). When the guest confirms that there is no problem, we can arrange a live website update.

What happens if there is an update problem?

Depending on the situation.
If it is a general update, if there is a problem with the update, in most cases, rollback the update (i.e. restore the website), and wait for next time to update it.
However, if it is a security update, then handled case-by-case.

What information is needed?

Requires WordPress login information, FTP login information, and phpMyAdmin login information

Does the website restore require additional fees?

As long as the backup exists, there is no additional charge for WordPress site restores (up to 4 restores per month).

Is the website with maintenance service very safe?

A well-maintained website is much secure than an un-maintained website, and most hackers take an easy one. However, there is no 100% absolute security in the world, just a difference in risk/level. (Sorry, we do not and cannot guarantee that your website is absolutely secure)

In case the website was hacked?

We will use backup to restore, and fix it for free.

Can I use your service if the website has been implanted with a malicious program?

Malicious program removal is a complex, time-consuming process. Please consider “Hack Recovery / Malware Removal” service first, before joining the maintenance service plan.

Can you help to install SSL for WordPress?

Yes, be aware that SSL requires web hosting providers support.
We can help to install free Let’s Encrypt SSL (if support), paid DV (domain validation) or paid EV (extended validation) SSL.
(Depends on the hosting provider platform)

Technical Support?

Includes simple phone calls and technical support on email.
If the problem is complicated and/or involves more time, we will charge HK$400 technical support fee per hour. (minimum 2 hours)
